Do you thank your best customers properly?
Everyone likes to be thanked and appreciated. So why not write them a note. One that is well written and sincere may well leave the recipient looking forward to doing more business with you, and it will encourage him to seek referrals for you. Here’s an example letter.
Dear Andrew
Thank you for your business. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you and it’s been great working with you and Jan.
I am looking forward to getting together with you for a coffee in a few weeks time. I really look forward to hearing all about your holiday in France and to arranging a game of golf together later in the summer.
In the meantime I will stay in close contact to see how the new sales processes help you increase sales revenues.
Feel free to call me any time and if there is anything I can do for you whilst you are away on holidays please don’t hesitate to ring me on 07878 123456
Best regards,
Simon
Notice I haven’t repeated anything. I didn’t say, “Again, thanks”. Once is enough. I’ve set an expectation that I will be in contact again, twice in fact. Notice also how I have positioned myself as someone whom he can call upon at anytime. I’ve tried to make it personal and I’ve given him my mobile number if he needs it.
Never forget, people like dealing with people they like. People like dealing with people who really care about them and their business. Your gratitude must always be genuine. If you go out of your way to help your customers they might just go out of their way to help you as well.
Have a great week in business.
